These free tools put AI on your side. It is the great leveller: a PhD-level expert in your corner, free, who has read the law, knows the process, and writes your reply for you. You do not have to use it. But when you do, you meet them on equal terms, often for the first time.
When a letter lands or someone knocks, you are not really facing a person. You are facing a machine: a council with a recovery department, a company with a legal team, a system built on the quiet bet that you do not know the rules and will not find out in time. For most of history, that bet paid off. You had no one in your corner.
That has changed. AI is the great leveller. It puts a PhD-level expert at your side, on any subject, for free, at three in the morning when the dread is loudest. It has read the law. It knows the process, the deadlines, the exemptions, and the exact wording an adjudicator responds to. It does not get tired, it does not judge you, and it does not flinch at a brown envelope.
We will be straight with you: Claude cannot give you legal advice, and neither can we. But it can give you a legal brain. It takes your situation, works out exactly where you stand, and writes the calm, accurate, well-argued letter you would have paid a professional hundreds of pounds for, and would not have known how to ask for.
That is the force multiplier. One ordinary individual, armed with the same kind of intelligence the institutions use, calmly holding the line. That is the whole idea.
Claude is a free AI assistant, made by a company called Anthropic. You talk to it in plain English, the way you would message a knowledgeable friend, and it answers.
It can read a letter you have had, explain what it actually means, and write your reply for you. It does not judge you. It does not charge you to start. And it will never tell you to just pay. You stay in control at every step.
Nothing you type is shared with us. It stays between you and Claude.
